Children's Mental Health Matters

The theme for National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day 2018 focused on the hope and healing possible following a traumatic event.

This year, Erie joined more than 1,100 other communities across the country to champion the profound importance of the childhood experience. ECTIC proudly partnered with more than 200 local professionals, systems, providers, educators, family members, youth, and concerned citizens to raise awareness and stomp out stigma associated with children's mental health and trauma.

Youth from across the region also unveiled a collaborative piece of artwork created to represent childhood mental health, trauma, and healing.

Dr. Wilson Brown, assistant professor of child clinical psychology at Penn State Behrend and ECTIC executive committee member, provided a free training to the event participants about trauma in childhood and adolescence.
